Role synopsis BP Exploration is seeking to recruit a Highly Experienced Subsea BOP Specialist to work within BP Developments Division as a Subsea BOP Specialist. This role will be based in Houston Texas. The successful candidate will join the Global Wells Organization (GWO). This position supports BP Wells operations globally.
Key accountabilities . Work safely and ensure BP's HSE Policy and Operating Management System (OMS) is followed by persons involved with subsea BOP operation and maintenance.
. Work with BP internal auditors and management to ensure installation and operability of subsea BOP equipment in compliance with BP, industry and legislative requirements.
. Interface with drilling contractors on subsea BOP maintenance, testing and modification requirements.
. Interface with other BP internal groups involved in subsea BOP requirements (Rig Audit Team, BP-Owned Rig Teams).
. Liaison with internal BP and external subsea BOP experts.
. Support the application of the E&P specific Engineering Technical Practices within the GWO function.
. Provide technical support to the Segment Technical Authorities (SETAs) for Subsea BOPs and Well Control as required.
. Provide advice and technical support to the operating regions of the Global Wells Organization.
. Assist all parties during the response to well control events involving subsea BOPs.
Essential Education . College degree or equivalent military / industry experience in electronics field.
Essential experience and job requirements . Minimum of 12 years' experience in subsea BOP design, maintenance and "hands on" operation.
. Previous experience as a subsea BOP engineer with a drilling contractor or operations support with a subsea BOP manufacturer.
. Subject Matter Expert (SME) in subsea BOP mechanical systems and hardware.
. Good understanding of subsea BOP control systems.
. Excellent understanding of maintenance management systems for mechanical equipment and control systems.
.Training and deep understanding of QA/QC manufacturing processes.
. Technical aptitude for mechanical and hydraulic systems design and engineering
. Understanding of reliability and risk mitigation in mechanical systems.
. Technical aptitude for troubleshooting and fault finding in electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems
. Good understanding Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) based software and systems
Other essential skills and knowledge . Good communication skills, (verbal, written and presentation).
. Good project management skills and supervising of internal and external consultants/contractors.
. Good team skills to work in multi-discipline teams in support of resolving technical issues on BOP equipment..
Desirable criteria & qualifications . An understanding of basic well engineering and construction, and well intervention concepts.
. An understanding of offshore floating rig operations.
