Chevron Energy Technology Corporation (ETC) is accepting online applications for the position of Offshore Structural Engineer located in Houston, Texas.

Position Details: Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:


* Provide guidance during platform configuration studies (fixed and floating) in order to develop efficient and cost-effective structures. Evaluate alternate structural system concepts and participates with project team members in selecting the best development scenario.

* Review structural designs/drawings for compliance with Chevron specifications and Industry Recommended Practices (i.e API, DNV, etc).

* Review pre-service (fabrication, load-out, transport and installation) engineering calculations and drawings in order to identify and resolve constructability issues.

* Implement and monitor the weight control of the facilities. Ensure installation will not become an issue due to lift weights.

* Assists in the preparation of detailed construction schedules.

* Assists in the preparation of detailed construction cost estimates.

* Perform constructability reviews and advise of ways to improve the design for ease and lower cost of construction using a thorough knowledge of the capabilities of international suppliers, fabricators and constructors.

* Participates with other members of the project team in the preparation of key project documents such as Project Execution Plans, specifications, bid packages and construction contracts.

* Develops and execute technology development projects.

* Performs structural assessment of existing facilities and develops repair and modification plans.

Required Qualifications:


* Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering with speciality in Structural Engineering required, or 10 years of Offshore Structural Engineering experience will be considered in lieu of the degree.

* A minimum of 5 years experience in offshore Structural Engineering.

* Solid foundation in civil/structural engineering with strengths in structural dynamics, FEA and nonlinear behavior.

* Strong understanding of the range of floating and fixed offshore production systems and/or marine terminal technologies.

* Occasional overseas travels (Far East, West Africa) to support condition assessment and front-end project work.

* Hands-on experience with structural design practices (including industry standards) and analysis methods and tools used for offshore production systems.

* Project management skills needed to plan and manage contractors and/or consulting support to projects, including technology development projects.

* Demonstrated strong communication and interface skills.

Preferred Qualifications:



* Knowledge of naval architecture and/or vessel motions desired.

* Experience with fabrication and installation of offshore structures is a plus.
