Competencies
General• Collaboration
Makes an effort to work effectively and cooperatively with fellow work group members; establishes and maintains productive working relationships by involving other work group members as appropriate and thanking them for their assistance. Places higher priority on work group goals rather than on own goals; offers to help other employees when they need assistance.
• Customer Focus
Understands customers and their needs and considers such factors in the completion of day-to-day job tasks and responsibilities; supports more experienced employees as required to develop and sustain productive customer relationships; uses available information to understand customer related circumstances, problems, and needs; considers how day-to-day actions will affect customers; responds quickly to help more experienced employees meet customer needs and resolve problems.
• Initiating Action
Seeks advice from direct supervisor when confronted with a non-routine problem or when made aware of a situation in own work area. Occasionally assists in implementing new ideas or potential solutions without prompting; does not wait for others to take action or to request action. Volunteers to take action that goes beyond job requirements in order to achieve work group objectives.
• Systems Thinking
Gains understanding of job tasks and processes and how they contribute to meeting work group objective(s). Identifies non-value-adding tasks and alerts more experienced employees for possible improvements. Participates in changes to job/role structures and processes as directed by supervisor.
Technical• Advanced Math & System Model
Basic - Basic applied knowledge of mathematical modeling or advanced mathematics to provide elements of information for known problem solutions, being closely guided by technical leadership.
Preferred - General applied knowledge of mathematical modeling or advanced mathematics to provide information for known problems, under close technical supervision.
• Analysis and Corrective Action
Basic - Basic knowledge of root cause analysis and corrective action of non-conformances to reduce scrap, minimize rework, reduce cost and improve quality to meet all requirements. Knowledge of the process for producing product definition data including emergent design changes.
Preferred - General knowledge of root cause analysis and corrective action of non-conformances to reduce scrap, minimize rework, reduce cost and improve quality to meet all requirements. Develops, reviews and approves product definition data including emergent design changes.
• Analysis/Design Optimization
Basic - Basic ability to evaluate complex vehicles and systems from a multitude of perspectives. Includes the ability to apply figures of merit and integrated optimization tools. Ability to perform multi-disciplinary trade studies to evaluate configuration alternatives for functional and spatial integration.
