Maintenance Supervisor

Our client manufactures prefabricated structural components - roof trusses, floor trusses, stairways, wall panels - as well as interior and exterior doors and windows and we are looking for a Maintenance Supervisor with experience in maintaining manufacturing machinery and facilities to become part of its growing team.

As the Maintenance Supervisor you will supervise and coordinate activities of works engaged in maintaining and repairing machinery and structure of the building and grounds. You will also supervise the utility staff and maintenance technicians, gather bids to outsource work, and prioritize repair / improvement issues and opportunities.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inspects work areas and production schedules to determine type of work, materials, equipment and labor requirements for completion of tasks.
  • Inspects completed work for conformance to blueprints, specifications, and standards.
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Operates equipment such as bulldozers and graders, and trains workers in equipment operation.
  • Directs workers engaged in painting and performing structural repairs to masonry, woodwork, and furnishings of buildings as well as miscellaneous lawn maintenance such as, mowing lawns, trimming hedges, removing weeds, and raking and disposing of leaves and refuse.
  • Directs workers engaged in the general cleaning and up keep of buildings, including buffing, dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, washing windows and moving furniture and unloading and storing supplies.
  • Directs workers assisting other departments as requested, including moving furniture and unloading and storing supplies.
  • Requisitions and issues tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Requisitions work from outside services or vendors for projects that require specific expertise or capabilities.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervises employees in the maintenance department.
  • Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma, Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • 10-12 total years of experience in a maintenance role in a manufacturing environment
  • 5 years in a leadership role managing a team of technicians in a manufacturing environment
  • PLC troubleshooting / diagnosis
  • Lean manufacturing, implement ion of new policies and procedures that reduce company downtime
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
