Fabrication Specialist C
This position is in the Space Exploration Division and provides support to the International Space Station and other Boeing Programs. We require a skilled Machinist who has the ability to Program using Gibbs Software, Setup/Operate CNC Mill, Lathe, fabricate prototype components and assemblies in support of product development, modify production materials as required per rework instructions, assist with development of production assembly tooling, provide fabrication and assembly feedback to engineering. The successful candidate should be capable of high precision work on a variety of machine shop equipment. Products produced will range from simple to challenging requiring close tolerances. Performs machine set-up, machining, and fabrication tasks, fabrication and assembly tasks. Assembles precision mechanical and electro-mechanical components.

Technical• Engineering Drawings & Specs
Complete ability to read, understand, and interpret basic engineering drawings and specifications.
• General Shop Processes
Complete knowledge of shop processes to include Foreign Object Damage/Debris (FOD) prevention, material handling, safety, calibration requirements and Electrostatic Discharge (ESD).
• General/Precision Test & Meas
Complete knowledge and proficiency in the use of general and precision measuring devices (e.g., Optical Time Domain Reflectometers (OTDR), multimeters, oscilloscopes, noise/bus/logic/spectrum analyzers, calipers, micrometers, etc.) and associated calibration requirements.
• Manufacturing Methods
Complete knowledge of manufacturing, methods, fabrication processes (e.g., forming, stamping, machining, heat treatment, machines/machine tools, cutting tools and fluids, N/C programming, instrumentation, data acquisition and control systems). Ability to select the best method of producing parts, tools or assemblies.
• Numerical Control Programming
Complete knowledge of material removal (e.g. metal machining, composite trimming) and material build up (e.g. composites lay-up) to the Numerical Control (NC) programming lifecycle for complex aerospace hardware. Complete ability to plan, create, validate, and document machine control data (MCD).
Basic Qualifications For ConsiderationDo you have previous experience using Gibbs (or similar CAD/CAM) software?
Typical Education/Experience
High school diploma or GED and typically 4 or more years' related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Other Job related information
Additional secondary duties in other areas will also be performed as required. The successful candidate will be required to perform precision fabrication and assembly pertaining to aerospace development, mock-up, qualification, and flight hardware. Individual will be required to obtain manufacturing certifications on an as needed basis including any associated physical examination. Additionally, the team member will be required to perform cleanup and administrative functions as required to support daily activities. This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility.
