Our client, a major oil and gas company is seeking an ERISA paralegal to join the legal department. The ERISA paralegal utilizes specialized legal knowledge of benefit plans and statutory/regulatory requirements to assist in development, implementation and administration of those plans and related legal work. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Drafts and/or reviews documents relating to the company benefit plans and trusts including summary plan descriptions and employee communications; Assists external auditors with audits of benefit plans and acts as legal coordinator/contact on Department of Labor audits when needed; Maintains and/or updates electronic foreign and domestic benefit plan files; Performs legal research and drafts research memos as needed relating to ERISA, the Internal Revenue Code and various federal and state statutes affecting the company benefit plans; Assists with corporate transactional work and issues around employee benefit plan matters and liabilities; Assists with benefit plan claims and appeals including research of facts and pertinent plan provisions and review or drafting of responses. Qualifications include: Thorough working knowledge of the purpose of and legal issues arising in connection with employee benefits. Paralegal certificate or equivalent legal education. Minimum 5 years experience working with benefit plans and related legal issues and at least 10 years paralegal experience. Interested candidates please submit your resume to
